Listed International Manufacturing Company
A successful listed manufacturing business head quartered in London but operating internationally is recruiting a newly created Financial Controls Manager role. This is high profile position reporting to the Group Head of Finance and working closely with the CFO, Group Finance Director, and other senior colleagues in the UK and internationally. This role provides the successful candidate a great opportunity to understand and develop a deep understanding of the business. Prospects are excellent, as the business continues to grow and evolve. and the business have succession planning in mind.
In this high profile and broad role you will take full responsibility for the companies accuracy and compliance across the reporting and controls landscape in response to recent UK corporate governance reform legislation. This role will ensure the efficiency, accuracy and integrity of internal and external reporting through review of current processes for optimisation and simplification, ensuring effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and encouraging a culture of strong controls. As part of the financial reporting and accounting team, there will also be the opportunity to assist with plc external financial reporting and IFRS technical accounting matters.
Specifically, you will deliver the roadmap to ensure compliance with UK corporate governance reform in respect of internal controls; undertake financial risk assessments to identify key risks and mitigating controls; deliver updated risk assessment documentation; work with IT colleagues on identifying and testing GITCs; ensure controls are properly designed for in scope processes and develop and implement new controls accordingly; lead remediation plan implementation; enhance controls documentation and policies; and embed controls culture by delivering workshops/training as needed. Naturally, due to the nature of this role, expect to work on various ad-hoc projects, for example, analysis, M&A activity, systems implementation and other finance issues.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with some experience in public practice and financial controls in industry. For example, previous experience of SOX implementation including documentation, evidence and testing and a solid understanding of SOX and internal control concepts would be very beneficial. You will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention for detail and accuracy. You will strive to improve processes and share best practice, be comfortable working in a small, focused team; and interact with senior colleagues on a daily basis.
