Dains are expanding our busy and successful Employment Services team and are seeking an Employment Tax Manager to join us in Birmingham.
We offer a unique experience by advising on the full scope of employment tax within the team. Working with a diverse client base, you’ll gain hands-on expertise in multiple areas of employment tax, while also building your client relationship skills in a collaborative environment.

Your Education, Skills & Experience:
- Have a minimum of 4 years relevant work experience within Employment Tax.
- Present strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong mathematic skills and present strong analytical and methodical skills
- Present good knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
- You will need to demonstrate resilience and confidence taking on new challenges.
- Ability to prioritise own workload and outcome focused and meet tight deadlines.
- You must be a confident on Excel and common tax software within the market.
- Ability to support and coach junior members of the team.
- Have an understanding of the key UK employment tax legislation and regulations.
- CTA qualified is desirable, but not essential.
Main Responsibilities as an Employment Tax Manager:
- Ensuring ongoing maintenance and development of relationships with existing clients.
- Deliver high quality oral and written employment tax technical advice to clients on multiple topics including employment status/IR35, termination payments, NMW, benefits and expenses, tax due diligence, international people movements, CIS and HMRC employer compliance reviews.
- Review of PAYE Settlement Agreement returns.
- Assisting in advisory work and development of new opportunities within Dains client base.
- Preparing correspondence with HMRC.
- Understand the importance of, and actively contribute to, the effective management of the firm’s risk.
- Participation with preparation and issue of ad hoc marketing materials to clients and targets, to generate new contacts and work for the team.
