Machinist - Nights

We have a new opportunity to be part of the Machine Shop team in the role of Machinist.
In this role you will be required to:
- Set up and operate CNC machines, ideally Fanuc and Matsuura, in accordance with production packs and technical drawings.
- Load raw materials and install machine fixtures, tools, and parts.
- Perform machine adjustments to ensure optimal performance and precision.
- Interpret technical drawings, CAD/CAM files, and design specifications to produce accurate parts.
- Input and modify CNC programs using G-code or other programming languages as required.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure parts are produced to exact specifications and quality standards.
- Inspect and measure finished parts using precision measuring tools (callipers, micrometres, gauges, etc.) to ensure they meet tolerance and quality standards.
- Adjust programs and machine settings to correct any deviations or defects.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning and lubricating equipment, and replacing worn-out tools and parts.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team for repair.
- Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance part quality.
- Collaborate with staff to streamline production processes and solve machining problems.
- Adhere to all company safety procedures and ensure safe operation of CNC machinery.
- Follow all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workplace.
- Maintaining consistent high standards
- Being proactively aware of Health and Safety requirements
- To understand the COSHH data, data sheets and their location
- To assist in Quality Assurance within the department
- To meet the requirements and demands of the busy periods
Key skills:
- Previous experience programming, setting, and operating 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machines with Heidenhain / Fanuc control
- Experience with Openmind-Hypermill would be an advantage
- Experience and knowledge of a machine shop environment required
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- A methodical and thorough approach to your work
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, combined with the ability to work well with colleagues
- Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and a dependable team player
- Possess good IT skills
- Have a positive attitude and be willing to help throughout the department
- Work well under pressure to meet time critical deadlines
- A willingness to work extra hours as required
- Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the commitment to the Health & Safety policy. Keep working area clear and free from hazards.
