Responsibilities

We are looking for a charismatic, dynamic managing editor who will plan, develop and produce a leading, capital markets title through direct engagement with a sophisticated audience and community. Our editor needs to confidently represent the title and company at public events, on and off stage, and be an expert in an asset class specific field of the market.


The right candidate will need to be highly organised, and work with the editorial, sales and production teams to build the title’s calendar of coverage across primary and secondary equity markets in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.


The editor will need to own this title, from daily delivery of news stories and features covering trading across cash and derivative markets; alongside development and support of services including research and events.


Candidates should be degree-level educated or similar (including relevant markets experience), with a great eye for copy and an ear for a good story.


This is a hybrid role with at least three days a week working from the London office.


Candidates should:

  • Have five+ years' experience in financial markets journalism;
  • Have two or more years of editorial team management experience;
  • Understand the market structure of primary and secondary trading across equities and either fixed income and/or FX to a good level;
  • Be educated to degree level or to have sufficient professional experience to reflect an equivalent education in both writing skills and market knowledge;
  • Be able to deliver content to time and length as required, with appropriate levels of recording and transcribing conversations, and in editing copy as per the house style;
  • Present at events in person where needed, both in the UK and internationally;
  • Be able to design and deliver research projects on a quarterly basis;
  • Present well to interviewees in person and remotely (phone/Zoom etc);
  • Know how to structure formulae in MS Excel in order to analyse data;
  • Understand the terminology of secondary market trading to a high level;
  • Cultivate relationships and sources in the market to bring in non-public information to use for stories and market intel;
  • Drive the publication to become the leading title for its asset class.
