Position Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Java Developer with practical experience in Scala and a solid understanding of capital markets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Java-based applications with a focus on high-transaction financial systems. The candidate should have a proven track record of working in fast-paced environments and delivering robust, scalable, and performant solutions that support the complex trading activities of capital markets.

Key Responsibilities:


Application Development:



  • Develop and maintain high-performance Java applications using both Java and Scala.
  • Write scalable, robust, testable, efficient, and easily maintainable code.
  • Translate software requirements into stable, working, high-performance software.

System Integration:



  • Integrate software components and third-party programs to meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products.

Performance Tuning:



  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Collaboration and Planning:



  • Work closely with business analysts, quants, and stakeholders to understand functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team and cross-team meetings to ensure alignment with architectural standards and design patterns.

Capital Markets Expertise:



  • Apply capital markets knowledge to develop financial software, including trading systems, risk management systems, and other tools used in the financial services industry.
  • Understand and implement financial concepts such as derivatives, equities, fixed income, and risk management strategies.

Technical Leadership:



Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.

Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies, and assess new technologies as they emerge.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Java development, with hands-on experience in Scala.
  • Strong experience in building applications in a capital markets environment, with a deep understanding of financial instruments and trading platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in both Java and Scala.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and testing.
  • Familiarity with various design and architectural patterns.
  • Experience with frameworks and libraries such as Spring, Hibernate, Akka, Play, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java/Scala.
  • Experience with database design and SQL, including NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with development and deployment on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
