About the Team
Join an innovative and growing team focused on driving improvements through data solutions. As a Business Data Engineer in the Business Improvements team, you will design and implement data systems that enhance business processes, leveraging data to support effective decision-making and operational optimization.
Role Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining data infrastructure, enabling efficient data collection, processing, and analysis. This position requires an ability to independently develop solutions on data platforms, including workflows, apps, and dashboards, while ensuring data integrity and quality for reliable analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize workflows, applications, and dashboards to improve data access and reporting on the Skywise platform.
- Collaborate closely with data analysts and cross-functional teams to ensure data sources align with business needs.
- Support the deployment of Management Information Systems (MIS) across engineering teams and other functions.
- Drive data integrity by implementing validation and error-checking processes.
- Automate data collection, reporting, and analysis to streamline manual processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing error.
- Partner with business teams to understand operational challenges and develop data-driven solutions.
- Enable real-time data access to support timely and informed decision-making.
- Travel between UK sites to collaborate with various teams as required.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in the Skywise platform, including Contour, Code-Workbook, Slate, and Ontology definitions.
- Strong experience with Google products, including app scripts, app sheet, and Google automations.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience in database design and management.
- Programming knowledge in Python, PL/SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Expertise in data analysis methodologies and a solid understanding of business metrics and KPIs.
- Ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions.
Essential Qualifications
- STEM HND
- Security Clearance (SC) or ability to obtain
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge of airline and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations.
- Familiarity with integrating machine learning models into data workflows.
- Experience in business/industrial environments, software development, or related fields.
Additional Requirements
- This role requires DBS Security Clearance eligibility.
