The Social Media Manager will be responsible for planning and executing social campaigns across paid and social channels.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate their creativity, attention to detail, analytical and organisation skills. They should be used to dealing with multiple brands, multiple social channels and enjoy a varied role and like working at pace.


This role forms part of the Pets Choice Marketing Communications team and will work cross functionally with the in-house teams; brand, design and digital as well as dealing directly with agencies and business partners.


It is essential that the post holder is confident and comfortable around dogs and other pets and will be able to travel to events and exhibitions.


With ambitious company-wide growth plans this is a genuinely an exciting time to join and play a key role in growing brand equity and engagement


Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and establish the overall strategic direction of the social media strategy ensuring it aligns with business and brand KPIs.
  • Lead and create each brands social media communication plans, collaborating with the brand and shopper teams to ensure integrated campaigns are maximised.
  • Responsible for the setting, management and tracking of the social media and influencer budgets, demonstrating improved ROI.
  • Responsible for setting, selecting, and recommending the social media executions and channel selection.
  • Responsible for the overall implementation of all social media activity, ensuring on time activation.
  • Responsible for paid social media for assigned brands/channels.
  • Overseeing the organic social media for assigned brands/channels.
  • Development and consistent execution of the brand tone of voice in social media.
  • Lead the planning and creative development for social media campaigns/strategies to increase engagement, brand awareness and sales.
  • Identification and management of key influencers on social media to enrich the channel’s social conversations and grow reach.
  • Social media delivery requirements for any communications and partnerships agreements/campaigns.
  • Devise fresh and innovative ideas to increase followers and fans to build an engaged community.
  • Ensure the team are continually trained in the latest social media techniques and keep up with latest industry and digital developments and competitor activity. Share new thinking and present in internal meetings.
  • Deliver best in class assets and work closely with digital and design teams to ensure optimised assets are produced for the social accounts.
  • Craft compelling and SEO-friendly written content, including blog posts, articles, social media posts, and website copy, in line with the brand guidelines and tone of voice.
  • Work closely with internal teams and our agencies to understand the creative idea and strategy, campaign development and principles and translate this into the idea for social media. Responsible for the overall Community Management plan and the monitoring of connections and executions to grow positive engagement.
  • Use social listening/measurement/insight and reporting tools to generate and share social data with relevant stakeholders. Report on agreed KPI performance metrics and adjust creative to optimise posts and improve metrics.
  • Lead the development and continual testing and learning approach of our social channels by being innovative and coming up with creative ways to enhance campaign performance while using new features and technology.
  • Lead the internal communication campaign reports and presentations, including the newsletter and monthly campaign updates.


What are we looking for from you?

  • Social Media or Digital Marketing Qualification.
  • Experience working across paid and social channels, preferably with experience gained from a FMCG business. Paid social experience is required.
  • Experience in planning and delivering Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok campaigns.
  • Experience in the delivery of influencer campaigns and community management.
  • Strategic thinker and organisation skills, who has experience of acting with pace and can confidently manage multiple projects, channels and brands.
  • Excellent communicator who can quickly build rapport and influence others to build strong relationships.
  • Copywriting skills with a creative flair and a proven ability to adapt and flex style and approach for the brand and channel.
  • Analytic and reporting skills.
  • Full UK and clean driving licence preferred.
  • Experience of the full Microsoft Office suite and social media platforms, Agorapulse and Upfluence preferred.
  • Experience using Google Analytics and experience using CMS platforms to update web content and product information.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must be a pet lover
