Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Area Sales Manager to join our Sales department, covering the Midlands Territory. The ideal candidate will have a strong sales background and a proven track record in the metal cutting industry. This role focuses on both account management and business development, targeting large end users within the region.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with existing clients.
  • Prepare and process documentation for orders.
  • Manage existing accounts while actively seeking and establishing new ones.
  • Define and propose manufacturing solutions tailored to meet customer needs.
  • Present machine specifications and associated costs to clients.
  • Coordinate resources, including Applications and Service teams, to deliver optimal solutions.
  • Support customers in justifying purchases and calculating return on investment.
  • Ensure timely achievement of payment milestones.
  • Manage and complete all necessary documentation in line with internal agreements.
  • Achieve an annual Capital Sales target of approximately £8 million.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven sales negotiation skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience within the metal cutting industry.
  • Strong engineering background and relevant qualifications.
  • Confidence in preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills at all business levels.
  • Superior time management and planning abilities.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven.
  • Ability to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the customer base within the West Midlands region.


Desirable Criteria:

  • Strong understanding of the machine tool market.
  • Experience with CRM systems.
  • Completion of a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting technical quotations.
