Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, energetic and motivated Senior Bioprocess Scientist with a strong

background in microbial fermentation, process development, and scale-up to join our team and lead

the commercial development and scaling of this groundbreaking technology at our new piloting

facility. The ideal candidate will have significant industrial experience and a passion for innovation in

the food and biotechnology sectors. This hands-on role will involve leading the design, optimisation,

and scaling of our fermentation process to produce cost-competitive high-quality cocoa-free

chocolate.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead the development and optimisation of our fermentation-based process to produce

cocoa-free chocolate.

● Design and conduct experiments to improve process efficiency, product yield, and quality.

● Scale up the fermentation process from laboratory to pilot scale, ensuring reproducibility

and scalability.

● Collaborate with cross-functional internal and external teams, including R&D, engineering,

and production, to ensure seamless technology transfer and implementation.

● Develop and implement process control strategies to maintain product consistency and

quality.

● Analyse and interpret experimental data, providing technical reports and recommendations.

● Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues, continuously improving the fermentation

process.

● Mentor and train junior scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative

work environment.

● Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements

related to microbial fermentation and process development.


Qualifications

● Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Bioprocess Engineering, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical

Engineering, or a related field.

● Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in microbial fermentation, with a focus on

process development and scale-up.

● Proven track record of developing and scaling fermentation processes in an industrial

setting.

● Strong understanding of microbial physiology, metabolic pathways, and fermentation

technology.

● Experience with fermentation in the food and beverage industry is a plus.

● Proficient in using bioreactors, analytical instruments, and process control systems.

● Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex bioprocess issues.

● Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects

simultaneously.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical

information to diverse audiences.

● Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
