Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Commissioning Director to lead the commissioning and operations efforts on a major nuclear project. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful commissioning of the facility, from design through to handover, while maintaining close collaboration with the Client, design partners, and site operators. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the nuclear sector, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and stakeholder management.


Key Responsibilities

Commissioning Leadership

Lead and manage the commissioning process across the entire project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and safety standards.

Develop and implement commissioning strategies, plans, and schedules in collaboration with the MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC) Lead and other project stakeholders.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with the Client, design partners, and site operators to ensure seamless integration of commissioning activities.

Maintain strong communication with all stakeholders to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure alignment with project objectives.

Regulatory Compliance

Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies to ensure all commissioning activities comply with nuclear safety regulations and standards.

Prepare and submit required documentation and reports to regulatory authorities, ensuring timely approvals and compliance.

Project Management

Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Manage and mitigate risks associated with commissioning, developing contingency plans as necessary.

Team Leadership

Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary commissioning team, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence.

Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring they have the resources and training necessary to perform their roles effectively.

Operational Handover

Ensure a smooth transition from commissioning to operations, including the development of operational procedures and training for site operators.

Collaborate with site operators to ensure they are fully prepared to take over the facility upon project completion.

Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in commissioning and operations.

Stay current with advancements in nuclear commissioning best practices and industry standards.

Reporting and Documentation

Maintain accurate and detailed records of all commissioning activities, including test results, certifications, and regulatory submissions.

Provide regular progress reports to senior management and project stakeholders.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Nuclear Science, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer (CEng), Project Management Professional (PMP)) is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in commissioning within the nuclear sector, with a proven track record of leading large-scale projects.


Skills

Strong leadership and project management abilities.

In-depth knowledge of nuclear safety regulations and commissioning processes.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to manage complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.


Additional Requirements:

Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Willingness to travel to various sites and work extended hours as required by the project.
