Our rail training centres in Salford and Canning Town, London offer both classroom-based and practical training with each centre equipped with a replica rail track to put theory into practice.

The role:


As the Training Planning Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of planners and administrative staff to ensure that planning contract deliverables are met in accordance with contractual KPIs. The role involves overseeing planning and administrative processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards and awarding body requirements, and maintaining high data accuracy within the system. You will be pivotal in identifying areas for improvement, producing data reports, and solving problems to optimise operations.


Supporting the Training Manager, you will balance the performance and skills needs of our dedicated team while optimising the allocation of resources between associates, full-time staff, and the supply chain. A key aspect of your role will be ensuring that the team’s knowledge and experience are maintained and that strategic planning for annual leave is implemented effectively, ensuring seamless coverage and operational continuity.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE


  • Skilled in planning, scheduling, and organising resources to meet operational needs and contractual deliverables. Ideally from a rail sector background but not essential.
  • Good understanding of compliance requirements related to Training, ensuring all planning activities adhere to safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations, identify issues, and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Dedicated to meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders, including trainers, associates, and supply chain partners.
  • Makes sound decisions based on analysis, experience, and organisational goals.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in response to changing operational demands and unforeseen challenges. Maintains composure under pressure and adjusts plans as needed to ensure continuity and compliance with deliverables.
  • Skilled in managing resources efficiently, including trainers, staff, and financial budgets.
