In the strategically key position of Head of Government Affairs & Market Development for UK & Ireland, you will report directly to the Head of Government Affairs & Market Development, EMEA, and will be instrumental in leading government affairs, market development, public affairs and public policy functions in UK and Ireland.

This position will be involved in the company’s commercial business development, educational program development and regulatory strategies across Baxter’s Kidney Care business across the U.K. and Ireland.

What you'll be doing
  • Advise and counsel the company's executives on public policy and governmental matters, including pending legislation/regulations and policy initiatives and their potential implications to the company.

  • Develop, in partnership with company executives and the regional business unit head, the company’s government relations and public policy strategy and agenda in the region to help prioritize actions and resources.

  • Develop public affairs strategies to support market development and patient access.

  • Facilitate project management and hands on implementation of public affairs engagements.

  • Develop and manage patient advocacy relationships and other relevant alliances.

  • Participate and engage in trade organizations, non-governmental organizations and strategic industry groups that the Kidney Care segment is a member in to influence legislation, regulations and public policy that affect the industry and advance the company’s interests.

  • Bring and develop strong external relationships with key government officials in the central government, Members of Parliament, the NHS, their staff and administrative agency personnel on issues of importance to the company such as expanding access to kidney care in the region.

  • Assist in government business transactions with Ministries of Health, Finance and other relevant government agencies.

  • Develop thought leadership and influence commercial strategies.

  • Develop, in partnership with universities, government agencies, and key opinion leaders in the region, education programs and symposia to improve adoption of best clinical practices.

  • Manage and balance external and internal resources.

What you'll bring

We are seeking candidates with 8-15 years of governmental or non-governmental organization and/or trade or industry association experience and/or experience within the private sector including:

  • Leading and building strong external working relationships to key decision makers and environments in health and business.
  • Knowledge and ability to appropriately influence the political/policy process, including working with and managing consultants.
  • Experience in public policy making and public affairs processes.
  • Experience in developing and using the public affairs toolbox
  • Experience in developing partnerships with trade associations and other industry partners to push an agenda.
  • Formulating and implementing business development, government relations and external affairs policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze key regulatory and policy issues with respect to the company’s strategic goals and to focus on those issues that advance (or could potentially inhibit) the company’s competitive business interests.
  • Ability to understand and influence the digital maturity of the governments & other bodies they interact with
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with internal business stakeholders.
  • Record of achievement and accomplishment.

Must be organized and a self-starter and comfortable working within a team located across the region.
