Location: London (West Brompton) - Some hybrid working may be available depending on programme deployment, however it should be expected that full time in office working will be required if you are allocated to one of our more sensitive programmes.

Your programme management skills could help protect the UK. With the ongoing terrorist threat, there has never been a more important time to be working alongside some of the best and brightest to help keep people safe. A career in Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is like no other. Every day offers a variety of exciting challenges and exceptional opportunities played out on a regional, national and international stage.

For CTP, delivering programmes is not just about bringing improvements. It’s about delivering improvements to keep millions of people safe across the UK. CTP delivers a portfolio of projects and programmes that will help better protect our country. The Programme Manager role is a rare and unique opportunity to lead change in this space.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • be comfortable with taking ownership of delivering national and complex change programmes; working with other technical areas such as business design, business change, HR, and ICT to establish projects and deliver outputs to effect overall outcomes.
  • have strong technical skills such as planning, RAID management, resource management, business case writing, and be confident in working with PMO analysts and PMO teams to ensure you have the data and support needed to control your programme
  • be confident working in partnerships with other teams and organisations to deliver what is needed, supported by communicating, negotiating and influencing at all levels
  • be a strong people manager and leader, prioritising the wellbeing of your team(s) alongside delivery commitments and holding Project Managers and other technical leads to account.
  • have experience in working across MSP, Prince2 and Agile programme and project management methodologies
  • be exceptionally organised, able to meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • be able to self task and prioritise your own and your team’s workload effectively.

Please note, the job description attached is used as a framework to review and manage performance when an individual is in post, and therefore not all skills and experience are required from the outset. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the majority of these skills, and is willing to learn and achieve these objectives.

CTP aims to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere and culture and an environment where all our people feel a strong sense of belonging and are well supported to reach their full potential. You will have the opportunity to contribute to and participate in our numerous WIDE (Wellbeing, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equality) activities and projects.

With our commitment to creating an inclusive working environment, we welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are seeking flexible working arrangements, including part time working.
We believe we offer fascinating roles at the heart of protecting the UK public. As part of our team, you can expect a range of benefits as well as the chance to develop. Some of these benefits include ‘flexi time’ (TOIL), flexible working, training courses, generous annual leave allowance and a competitive pension.

Vetting
The Programme Manager role can require regular access to the most sensitive intelligence. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post. Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Confidentiality Agreement
Applicants should also be aware of the need to sign a confidentiality agreement on taking up the post.
