About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Mid-Level Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop sophisticated predictive models, NLP algorithms, and generative AI models that directly impact business outcomes. You will work closely with Senior Data Scientists and the Chief AI Officer (CAIO) to ensure that projects align with our broader AI and data strategy. You will also collaborate with a small team of developers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment of models into production. Role Expectations:

  • Develop sophisticated predictive models, NLP algorithms, and generative AI models with a direct impact on business outcomes.
  • Work closely with Senior Data Scientists and CAIO to ensure projects align with the broader AI and data strategy.
  • Collaborate with small team of Data Scientists, developers, data analysts, cyber security specialists, business leads and other stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment of models into production.
  • Support end-to-end data science projects, identifying improvement opportunities and actively participating in implementing enhancements.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement machine learning models to analyse and understand patient data under the guidance of senior data scientists.
  • Contribute to the design and development of NLP algorithms, generative AI models, and frameworks to support research and development efforts.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of generative AI models, ensuring their effectiveness and reliability.
  • Utilize cloud infrastructure for model development and collaborate with software developers and DevOps engineers to support the deployment process.
  • Stay up to date with the latest NLP, ML, and AI research, tools, and techniques, and contribute to the ML/AI community.
  • Support the presentation of findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Follow coding documentation, version control, and quality assurance best practices, contributing to team standards.
  • Assist in managing workloads and documentation using tools such as Jira and Confluence.


Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Statistics, or a related field.


Required Skills:

  • Proven experience (3-6 years) in developing and implementing NLP models
  • Strong background in Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques, with a focus on contributing to projects under guidance.
  • Experience in supporting the deployment of data science products into production environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with NLP libraries (e.g., NLTK, SpaCy, Hugging Face Transformers).
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with data processing and analysis, preferably within the healthcare domain, with the ability to support large-scale projects.
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience in working with RESTful API endpoints in python, including handling API requests and responses, to integrate with applications like chatbots or other real-time systems.
  • Experience working in Agile teams and familiarity with Scrum practices.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
  • Experience with TDD and writing unit tests in a software development environment.
  • Familiarity with model registry solutions such as MLflow or Weights and Biases


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with development and implement of LLM algorithm/systems and large-scale models.
  • Development skills with a focus on efficiency and best practices in coding, supporting production-grade projects.
  • A growth mindset with a commitment to staying up to date with cutting-edge advances in ML/AI.
