The professional standards department has wide-ranging responsibilities including Corporate Chartered Status, Continuing Professional Development and oversight of the CII’s ethical framework.


This is a rare opportunity to join the busy Professional Standards department of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).



  • You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English
  • You will be a highly motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic induvial with a strong desire to learn and develop in the professional standards area.
  • In addition, you will be highly organised, have an excellent attention to detail and will be able to build strong stakeholder relationships


To be successful in this role we believe you need to:


Ability to present pragmatic alternatives and propose solutions

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade A*- C or equivalent including Maths and English
  • Effective verbaland written communication skills
  • Good command of the English language
  • Must have good organisational skills
  • Must have attention to detail to produce accurate work and meet deadlines
  • Good IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Previous experience involving dealing with people and/or complaints handling is useful but not essential
  • Calm under pressure
  • A professional and friendly manner
  • Willingness and ability to learn on the job
  • Reliable
  • Hardworking, eager to learn and develop new skills
  • Team worker with a flexible, professional attitude
  • A self-starter able to work independently while supporting the team

Desirable:


  • Previous experience at a professional membership or regulatory body
  • Previous experiencing processing and reviewing data


This is a busy role and in addition to the above it is essential that you are highly organised, possess good time management skills and be able to work under own initiative.


You’ll also be an enthusiastic team player and contribute to a positive work environment. In addition, you will be able to prioritise a high workload to meet required deadlines.


Corporate Chartered Status Scheme (CCS Scheme)


  • Ensuring the CCS Scheme are met at point of assessment and on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintaining and reviewing CCS Scheme procedures and processes on an ongoing basis to ensure they are relevant and up to date.
  • To lead on the maintenance, analysis and accurate data reporting relating to the CCS Scheme.
  • To consider and respond to complaints received concerning CCS Scheme.
  • To confidently provide SME on the CCS Scheme including responding to complex queries both internally and externally.
  • To work collaboratively with the Sales and Marketing function to provide SME on the CCS Scheme.
  • To support and co-ordinate in the production of relevant CCS Scheme including but not limited to networking events, best practice guides, webinars, CCS newsletters.
  • To support the CCS best practice.

Professional Standards


  • To support in the production and implementation of professional standards strategies
  • To maintain an accurate database of all Professional Standards content (internal and external) across the CII and PFS
  • To work collaboratively with Communications, Policy and Public Affairs, Customer Learning and Customer Insight and proposition to ensure a cohesive and overarching professional standards strategy is implemented across the CII
  • To support in the production of Professional Standards content for members
  • To support the Professional Standards Committee
  • To support in the production of an annual Professional Standards Report
  • To confidently act as SME for professional standards internally and externally and act as an ambassador for highest professional standards
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Continuing Professional Development team as required
