The Rising Sun is centrally located in the heart of the pleasant village of Colden Common. Colden Common is a large village located close to Winchester and Eastleigh, and near to the M3 corridor. It is characterised by good quality private dwellings, with local shops and businesses. The pub is an attractive detached building and was subject to extensive works in 2011. It has a single trade area, and single servery. There is a large trade kitchen. The pub benefits externally from a large beer garden complete with play equipment and has a c20 space car park.
The Rising Sun boasts up-to-date décor, with sanded floorboards, pastel-green walls and exposed brickwork. Trading takes place from a single wooden bar of reasonable size, and the comfortable floor space also accommodates large table seating up to six for eating or drinking. There is ample standing room with views of the two television screens to keep customers entertained. Sections to either side of the central bar area are carpeted with one leading into a distinct dining area. A welcoming mixture of sofas, loose dining furniture and a fireplace create a homely feel in this generously proportioned room, which also benefits from a dual aspect, flooding the room with natural light. A variety of lamps, large mirrors and hanging pictures complete this welcoming environment. The trade kitchen is large and reasonably well-equipped which has helped this pub create a strong menu and accompanying reputation for great value. The cellar is located at basement level and accessed externally.
With two possible entrances, one from the road and another from the 20 vehicle car park, an aesthetically pleasing approach is received from either side. The roadside entrance is adorned with hanging baskets whilst large potted shrubs form the boundary of the car park entrance. Protected from the road by the car park is a large lawned beer garden with picnic benches seating over 50 people. Some of the tables benefit from umbrellas meaning the garden can be enjoyed during both the warmer summer months and in less good weather. A children’s play area in the garden is close to some of the outdoor seating yet protected from the car park by a fence, ensuring the whole family can relax. Patio areas closer to the pub enable outside use without needing to access the garden itself. Here an additional smoking area can be found.

The Rising Sun is a popular pub located in the village of Colden Common, recognised as a firm favourite with families in this conventional community. The pub boasts delightful fittings and furnishings on a par with its semi-rural surroundings. In addition, a time-honoured menu of British food and a variety of cask ales and ciders meet the tastes of the locals, as well as attracting passing trade. A publican with high standards and strong marketing experience will be able to attract patrons from the surrounding towns and villages by continuing to offer a broad menu which will increase this pub's status even further.

With a population of over 3500, Colden Common is a large village characterised by quality private dwellings, located near Eastleigh in Hampshire. With two major roads in Colden Common, there is strong potential to attract custom from the existing passing trade. The M3 is just three miles away and Southampton Airport is five miles away.
