About the Role


We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be the cornerstone of our facility’s operational reliability, overseeing the maintenance and optimisation of infrastructure, equipment, and systems. Working closely with our small team, you will manage preventative and reactive maintenance programmes while supporting day-to-day operations across cultivation, post-harvest processing, and despatch.


This is a critical position where your expertise will directly contribute to our mission of delivering premium cannabis products while upholding patient safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.


Key Responsibilities


  • Safety: Prioritise team safety during all maintenance and operational activities, adhering to safety protocols and addressing any risks proactively.
  • Security: Ensure maintenance activities comply with strict security protocols, safeguarding facility assets and operations.
  • Facility and Maintenance Management: Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance schedules for HVAC, lighting, irrigation, and environmental control systems, ensuring uninterrupted operations and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Operational Support: Collaborate with teams to support cultivation, post-harvest processing, goods intake, inventory management, and despatch activities.
  • Sanitation and Inspections: Participate in equipment sanitation and system inspections to maintain compliance with operational and regulatory standards.
  • Environmental Control: Support the Lead Horticulturist in maintaining optimal growing conditions, troubleshooting equipment as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and operational processes in compliance with GACP, GMP, and GDP.


Essential Skills and Experience


  • Expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting critical systems such as HVAC, lighting, irrigation, and security systems.
  • Strong knowledge of UK cannabis regulations and compliance standards, including GACP, GMP, and GDP.
  • Proven experience in managing preventative and reactive maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
  • Familiarity with operational processes within cannabis facilities, including cultivation and post-harvest workflows.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic, regulated industry.
  • Training in emergency response procedures, including fire safety and first aid.


Qualifications


  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, facilities management, or a related field (e.g., mechanical or electrical engineering).
  • Certifications in HVAC systems, electrical safety, or similar technical areas are advantageous.
