The Port of Cromarty Firth is a Trust Port which exists to improve, safeguard and develop the Cromarty Firth as a Port for the benefit of stakeholders and is a self-financing commercial business.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Deckhand or experienced marine crew to join our team. Reporting to the Marine Crew Manager, the successful candidate will work as a member of the marine crew to optimise our pilotage service and support the delivery of PoCF marine crew objectives. The desirable candidate will have experience working on-call/ out of hours in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • To man, operate and assist maintenance of all PoCF marine crafts
  • Capable of returning the marine craft to safe haven
  • Mooring - to tie up, provide services and let go vessels.
  • To maintain PoCF premises, facilities and equipment (including but not limited to general ground maintenance, moorings, manual lifting/manouvring, painting, litter collection and any other general maintenance duties as required.
  • General marine duties (including but not limited to debris recovery, oil spill response and general launch maintenance)
  • To work on a rota system to meet the needs of the business; supporting training & development of crew members
  • To plan and execute maintenance for craft, equipment, and facilities and to complete marine craft checks
  • Other duties as required from time to time in order to meet the needs of the business
  • UK Driving licence essential

Desirable (not essential) Experience & Attribute Requirements:

  • Experience in similar role
  • RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate
  • First Aid certificate
  • Offshore Sea Survival
