We founded Beams in 2022 to make home renovation simpler for homeowners and contractors, and greener for the planet. We’re doing this by building a technology platform and marketplace for homeowners and contractors so they can plan, design and build all in one place. Description of role

We’ve had incredible growth and as we transition from a start-up to a European enterprise, we need to scale the foundations of how we connect our renovation projects to high quality contractors and deliver 100s+ of amazing home renovation experiences at scale leveraging tech and processes as an enabler.


This is a brilliant opportunity for a smart operations leader with experience of scaling multidisciplinary operations teams for tech enabled marketplaces. We want someone who is obsessed with delivering the best experience for our consumers, contractors and suppliers by inspiring teams and excited about building operation structures that fundamentally improve and change how renovations are done. This role does not require build or renovation experience (though it is a plus) as you will build and manage a team of experts in the space.


This role reports into the COO, based in London.


Key responsibilities

  • Lead our procurement and build function including line management of our build and procurement team, establishment of KPIs, tracking performance and hiring / growing the team as we scale.
  • Use data to identify solutions that improve the customer experience for our contractor, supplier, and consumers and drive these changes across multi-functional teams including legal, product, design, and sales
  • Establish our cadences of how we track individual renovation projects, including defects, cost tracking, customer satisfaction and timelines and ensure projects are delivered on time and in budget
  • Ensure we have enough general and specialist contractors within our network and lead efforts to match supply and demand across geographies
  • Lead efforts to how we improve sustainability for every build, through product selection and contractor practices
  • Work closely with Product team to identify tech based solutions to drive improvements in supplier, contractor, and customer experiences and improve efficiency across every projects
  • Support COO on other projects including growth expansion, resource forecasting, and pricing and efficiency improvements


About you

  • Track record of at least 5+ years leading operations teams and 2 years in management roles in tech enabled businesses. Experience with marketplaces is ideal.
  • Obsessed with data - able to both dive deeply but extract insights that improve operations by thinking holistically about impact and roll outs
  • Demonstrated experience of building high performing teams that have an appetite to challenge how things are done and improve constantly.
  • Excellent problem solving, commercial and analytical skills to understand the complex needs of our business and implement simple solutions at scale
  • Exceptional communication skills encompassing challenging conversations, coaching leaders and and communicating initiatives across teams
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, scrappy attitude and bias to getting stuff done.
  • An interest or passion in renovations and sustainability
