Birmingham UK, West Midlands, United Kingdom Tempest Jones Recruitment Full time

Construction Delivery Manager

Midlands (scheme in Birmingham)

Up to £100k + car allowance & excellent benefit package

Tempest Jones are working with the development arm of the largest not-for-profit developer and asset management organisation in the UK. They are using their experience, scale and financial strength to deliver new homes and communities across the country. These are at a range of price points and tenures from private sale to social rent. Any profits generated are invested back into social purpose.

They deliver and market homes for private sale and lead on land acquisition. They also have a strong track record on regenerating existing estates and breathing new life into communities. Over the next 5 years as part of their major mixed-use development programme across England, they will be close to a million square foot of retail and commercial assets ranging from community centres and regeneration projects to start up retail and Grade A office units - as well as driving innovation for sustainability delivering high quality end products.

The development arm has grown over the last 5 years to a business consistently delivering 1800-2000 homes per annum with a capacity and pipeline to increase this to 3000 homes per annum over the next 3-4 years.

The Scheme

As part of their ongoing growth they are now looking for a Construction Delivery Manager to join and lead on the construction of a key development in Birmingham.

The scheme is set to transform a growing neighbourhood in central Birmingham with a state-of-the-art affordable housing project. The development will bring 481 new, high-quality homes to the area, with 55% designated as affordable housing through shared ownership and social rent.

The Role

As a Construction Delivery Manager you will take the lead in the delivery of an NEC or JCT contract project as the client nominated Project Manager. You will be able to understand the administration of the contract and lead the project and Main Contractor to the successful delivery. This is a key role in delivering outstanding Quality, Customer Service and growing the business’ commitment to sector leading Health & Safety.

You will have a deep understanding of RIBA stages 2 to 6, and will be able to guide a project from the design phase through contract award and delivery, ensuring that the project is effectively managed, aligns with business objectives, and reflects the required costs, income, funding, schedule, and quality standards.

Responsibilities include;

  • Oversee the compilation and management of Design and Build, and Construction management contracts
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and promote the organisation as a developer of new homes
  • Use appraisal software to assess and monitor project financial performance
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including Local Authorities, Developer Partners, Solicitors, Consultants, and Contractors/Developers
  • Take the lead in managing and delivering projects, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and meet quality standards
  • Proactively manage and mitigate project delivery risks, champion H&S/ZIP standards, and maintain high Health & Safety standards on-site
  • Manage and support the team, including external contractors, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery
  • Prepare accurate reports for internal stakeholders and ensure compliance with Group policies and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with relevant parties to ensure snag and defect-free project completion and positive customer experience

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a highly skilled and self-motivated individual with a proven track record of construction delivery for residential-led projects in either the RP or private sector. You will play a key role in shaping the success of the Delivery team, bringing forward opportunities and delivering new homes that allow our client to make a step change towards the achievement of its ambitious targets.

Experience and pre-qualification criteria include;

  • Minimum of a degree or equivalent qualification in a construction related field or equivalent experience in a development delivery role
  • NEC 3 accredited Project Manager
  • Proven experience in housing development or similar
  • Knowledge of development and construction process
  • Experience in delivering diverse projects
  • Expertise in contract administration and procurement
  • Ability to meet targets and collaborate effectively
  • Experience in phased regeneration projects
  • Collaboration with stakeholders and excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of customer needs and commitment to exceeding expectations
  • Dedication to positive impact and continuous improvement

For the right candidate, they can offer an extremely competitive salary, along with generous car allowance, bonus, family health cover, excellent pension scheme and flexible holidays system.

This is an exciting time to join the company in its time of expansion that not only offers you the opportunity to develop your career but also offers the chance to develop your personal goals within a good work life balance environment.
