Robert Half is delighted to be retained by Hindles to appoint a Financial Accountant based in Edinburgh.

Their worldwide clients include start-ups and spin-outs, large corporations, universities, listed companies and public sector bodies. They represent clients directly before the European Patent Office, the UK Intellectual Property Office and the World Intellectual Property Office, and through attorneys in over 100 countries around the world. As part of the company growth strategy, a new opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join the organisation on a permanent basis, reporting directly to the CEO.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
  • Quarterly and Monthly Management Accounts.
  • Monthly review of the Profit & Loss Account with detailed cost & revenue analysis undertaken.
  • Year End preparation.
  • VAT return preparation and submission.
  • Monitor day-to-day finances including the reconciliation of financial transactions against bank statements.
  • Daily book-keeping, supported by bank feeds and invoice processing software.
  • Daily communications on financial queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, produce daily reports and perform credit control activities.
  • Accounts payable management and bank approvals.
  • Engaging in process improvement projects.
  • Pension management.

Experience, qualification and skills:

  • Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience
  • At least 5+ years of experience within finance function of a professional services environment
  • Technically sound and commercially astute accountant
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Capability to work autonomously with initiative

Salary will be within a range £50,000 to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus a benefits package including:
