Your new company
We're pleased to be working with an organisation in Cambridgeshire who are looking to recruit an Interim Head of Development to lead a small team that are working to deliver a large project with local, regional and national significance.

Your new role
As the Interim Head of Development, you'll be leading a small team and supporting the Director in this newly created role. You will progress through the early stages of this project to deliver a world-leading and commercially successful innovation district. The project has outline planning approval to create almost 400,000 m2 of commercial, research, education, retail and placemaking space.

The role will be incredibly varied and rewarding with duties including, but not limited to;

Lead pre-construction stage development activities for commercial, research, and education buildings.Develop spaces for entrepreneurs and scale-up companies.Collaborate with various university teams (Programme Delivery, procurement, finance, sustainability, and operations) to prepare for future phases.Focus on procurement of design teams, viability analysis, design, sustainability, planning, programming, phasing, funding, financial modelling, sequencing, delivery strategy, and designing for operations.Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement the strategy, business case, and funding arrangements for the program.Compile the case for long-term resourcing, build the internal development team, and manage performance during pre-construction activities.Lead the update and implementation of the planning master-plan, emphasising sustainable design and innovative technologies.Establish development phasing, site-wide strategies, and efficient capital use.Ensure successful delivery of pre-construction elements through stakeholder consultation.Initiate discussions with colleagues across various departments to align with program objectives.Devise complex partnerships and funding models to enable strategy delivery.Be an effective leader, both internally and externally, to realise the organisation's objectives.Prepare high-quality reports and documents aligned with governance processes.

What you'll need to succeed
As the Interim Head of Development, you will have significant experience of delivering large-scale development projects and programmes, ideally with exposure to commercial hubs, business districts or innovation districts. You'll be comfortable in taking large scale projects like this from inception, through funding, to delivery phase and occupation. You will be managing a wide range of different stakeholders and will be able to report complex information at board level, keeping track of project progress and performance against time and budget. You'll have knowledge of different delivery strategies, funding and partnership structures across various asset classes. The Interim Head of Development will be a strategic thinker and leader who can build, direct and lead large multidisciplined teams, both internally and externally, in complex environments.

You'll be RICS qualified or equivalent, and may have a financial and/or strategic management qualification, such as an MBA.
What you'll get in return
This will be an initial 6-9 month position which may be extended. The organisation will recruit for the role permanently and so there may be an opportunity to take the position for a longer term should that interest you. You will be paid a daily rate and in-scope of IR35.
