About the Role

As the Finance Director at Go-Ahead London, you will be responsible for leading the entire finance function, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the business. This is an operational finance position which entails travelling out to our London depot and collaborating with the team. This role involves strategic financial planning, driving financial performance, providing commercial insight, and ensuring robust financial controls across the company. The Finance Director will work closely with the executive team to align financial strategies with the overall business objectives and long-term vision of the company.


Responsibilities

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Extensive experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven track record of delivering strategic financial leadership and influencing at the board level.
  • Strong experience in financial planning, analysis, and commercial finance.
  • Substantial experience in managing large finance teams, driving high performance and development.
  • Expert knowledge of financial management, corporate finance, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Comfortable and capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience within the transport industry is highly desirable, but not essential.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable financial plans.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Comfortable and capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels
  • Commercially astute with a strong business acumen and a proactive approach to driving business performance.
  • High integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to transparency and ethical leadership.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Work Location: At The Go-Ahead Group we work 4 days a week in the office and 1 day from home.
