Position Overview:

Salve is at the forefront of transforming patient engagement in the IVF industry with our innovative SaaS solutions. We are seeking a highly motivated .NET AWS Backend Engineer who will be responsible for both maintaining our existing backend infrastructure and playing a key role in re-architecting efforts to enhance data consistency and reliability across our platform. You’ll be collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, customer success and external stakeholders to design and build scalable, reliable, and secure systems that power our SaaS solutions for healthcare providers and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead system architecture decisions to enhance data reliability and system scalability, while ensuring seamless integration with front-end systems and external partners.
  • Architect and implement solutions that improve the consistency and reliability of data flows between microservices and databases, with a strong focus on EMR data integrations.
  • Implement and maintain a transactional outbox pattern to ensure resiliency in distributed systems, managing reliable data flow even in the case of system failures.
  • Build and manage RESTful APIs and microservices, utilising AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, Cognito, SQS, Elasticache, S3, and DynamoDB.
  • Optimise database performance and reliability using PostgreSQL and DynamoDB, addressing both data security and high availability concerns.
  • Collaborate with EMR partners to ensure smooth and reliable data synchronisation between Salve's platform and third-party EMR systems.
  • Implement distributed systems patterns like event-driven architectures using AWS SQS, SNS, or other messaging systems.
  • Lead code reviews and foster a culture of best practices in development and architecture.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system designs meet compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR), addressing both data security and high availability concerns.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines and efficient infrastructure deployment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, scalability, and security across backend services.
  • Participate in the engineering team’s forums and agile ceremonies (e.g., daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives) and contribute to continuous improvement.


Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a .NET developer with strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core.
  • 4+ years solid experience with AWS services, particularly Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, SQS, Elasticache, and DynamoDB.
  • Previous experience re-architecting backend systems, especially with a focus on improving reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Experience designing and implementing solutions to ensure data consistency and reliability in distributed systems.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining event-driven architectures utilising message queuing systems such as SQS, SNS, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and familiarity with NoSQL solutions (e.g., DynamoDB).
  • Proficiency in building RESTful APIs and microservice-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with authentication and authorisation using AWS Cognito or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, serverless computing, and distributed systems design patterns.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to hit the ground running on implementing new architectural patterns.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the healthcare industry or familiarity with healthcare IT standards and data security compliance regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Hands-on experience with event sourcing, saga patterns, or other distributed system design techniques.
  • Knowledge of caching solutions like Redis (Elasticache) to improve performance.
  • AWS certification(s) is a plus.
