Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of ships, cargo, and imported food products to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Enforce legislation relating to public health, infectious disease control, and environmental protection.
  • Assess documentation for imported food and animal products.
  • Respond to incidents of infectious diseases, pest infestations, or other public health concerns at the port.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders, including shipping agents, importers, and other relevant authorities.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with national and international agencies on health and safety standards.


Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or Master’s in Environmental Health.
  • EHORB (Environmental Health Registration Board) registration.
  • Proven experience in a Port Health or Environmental Health role.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections and reporting.
