MacTaggart Scott are looking to recruit a Senior Project Manager within our Projects Department.


Role:

This role reports directly into Business Planning Manager. A Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading a portfolio of projects managed by a team of project managers and coordinators and ensuring adherence to processes. They will be responsible for mentoring and developing the team of direct reports and supporting customer escalations. The SPM will manage projects that carry greater risk and are more commercially sensitive. They will also provide support to prospects in the bid phase to improve transition into project execution.


Duties will include:

The Senior Project Manager will be expected to:

  • Lead a portfolio of projects with direct reports.
  • Mentor and train members of the project team and carry out annual appraisals.
  • Ensuring team adherence to department and business processes
  • Project manage allocated projects.
  • Ensure project schedules and activities are maintained and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that invoices are raised in accordance with the agreed contractual conditions.
  • Maintain budget & forecasts for financial reporting with support from Finance team.
  • Manage change and contract variations.
  • Risk management.
  • Scope and contractual requirement management.
  • Manage project reviews, stakeholder engagement & customer reporting.
  • Manage Customer relationships and communication.
  • Support Customer visits and meetings.
  • Liaising with other departments and managers within MacTaggart Scott to resolve any conflicts or issues to schedule, cost, or resources.
  • Provide assistance to project managers and project coordinators in the execution of their projects and support customer facing escalation.
  • Authorise direct report holidays, timesheets, and support recruitment interviews.
  • Support prospects in the bid process by reviewing scope, schedule & cost to ease handover into the execution phase within portfolio.
  • Provide estimated of project management hours for bid projects, as and when required.
  • Report at contract review and steering groups on project/portfolio progress and provide updates for monthly management reports.
  • Chair meetings in the absence of the Line Manager (invoicing and debt meetings, Contract Review meetings, S&OP, weekly department meeting etc.).


Essential skills, experience and knowledge requirements:

The successful candidate must;

  • Have the ability to use Microsoft word packages for the preparation of reports & scheduling.
  • Have Good Communication skills Ability to work unaided and on own initiative.
  • Be a Good negotiator.
  • Be commercially aware.
  • Be able to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through application of analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Have the ability to persuade and influence people in order to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources.
  • Be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Have experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Possess the ability to manage others.
  • Have the ability to interpret detailed project schedules and budgets.
  • Have good risk management skills and knowledge.
  • Have experience working with overseas customers and markets.


The successful candidate must hold or be able to meet the appropriate Security Clearance as required. The security clearance restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform for the organisation.
