Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Officer to join the Older People’s Commissioning Team in the Adult Social Care and Public Health Directorate on a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment.

The role of a Commissioning Officer is a varied one and we are seeking a highly motivated, solution focused and tenacious individual for this role. They need to be passionate about developing support services to improve the opportunities and lives of the older people and people with a physical and/or sensory disability across our boroughs.

At the heart of our work is developing and commissioning care and support that is high-quality, sustainable and person-centred in its approach, which is vital to promoting independence, choice, and supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population.

In this role you will undertake, manage, and deliver a range of commissioning activities. This will include the planning and development of services, procurement of new services, maintenance of provider and stakeholder relationships, and service reviews. You will support the co design of innovative new service models and shaping of the local provider market in a way that promotes people’s aspirations and ambitions. You will be working with a range of local providers to ensure the delivery of high quality and effective services that demonstrate value for money.

You will be highly organised, able to manage multiple strands of work within deadlines, and enjoy being involved in a variety of activities and projects. You will have strong communication and presentation skills and be confident in working with a range of internal and external partners including service users and their families and carers. We are seeking individuals who are creative, persistent in seeking solutions to complex problems, able to undertake critical analysis, open to learning from and with others, and working with people to effect positive change. You will have an interest in and some experience of supporting older people, people with a physical and/or sensory disability and the government’s agenda in relation to these areas.
