Location: Kennington (Office based 5 days a week)

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Salary: Up to £75,000

Direct reports: 1 x Advisor

Sector: SEN/Independent Education


This full-time strategic role includes responsibility for, and oversight of, all aspects of recruitment and HR at the organization.


The role includes strategic oversight of processes for recruiting, inducting and onboarding, performance management, employee relations, health and wellbeing, and learning and professional development.


The role provides a business-focused and HR advisory service to the directors.


General

  • Provide an expert HR function relating to all people issues in line with legislation, regulation, policy, and best practices.
  • Deliver effective and efficient HR processes, policies, and systems.
  • Conduct regular reviews of the staff handbook, disciplinary and grievance procedures, and all other templates ensuring these are current and fit-for-purpose.
  • Proactive approach to implementing efficient systems and processes.
  • Ad-hoc project support as required.


Remuneration & Benefits

  • Maintain strong key relationships with benefit providers.
  • Review new/alternative benefits options and providers to ensure value for money and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist the directors with budget control and annual employee budget process, including remuneration reviews.


Recruitment & Selection

  • Oversee recruitment and selection.
  • Oversee agency relationships, costs and continually encourage EDI in line with the organization's equality policy.
  • Provide advice and insights on recruitment activity, including identifying appropriate recruitment channels and manage advertising to source the best candidates.
  • Support and advise on people-related queries as required.


Employees

  • Working with the COO, manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary issues, grievances, complex sickness cases, and poor performance.
  • Support and advise the directors on employee wellbeing and engagement initiatives.

  • To carry out other duties as may be required and to comply with any reasonable request made by the directors that may not appear within this job description.
  • To ensure that all aspects of the work undertaken are kept confidential at all times.

Qualifications/Training/Experience

  • Relevant post-graduate HR qualification/s.
  • Experience in the independent school sector is desirable.
