The range of projects and programmes we work on are extremely diverse (varying from provision of “life support” services to the military to Portfolio, Programme & Project management to Consultancy services), resulting in a variety of work and a genuine claim that no two days are the same.

Your Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary Engineering Team. The successful candidate will report to the Discipline Lead Engineer and provide general mechanical engineering support to Government Services EMEA projects and bids, with a particular focus on water and fuel systems. This role involves providing engineering input and support to current UK MOD projects, such as the Joint Operational Fuels System and Combat Water Support System, as well as projects and bids for other UK Government Departments.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of engineering aspects of projects from inception to completion, either by leading or working as part of a team.
  • Perform all conventional aspects of mechanical engineering, including design and development, producing and checking calculations, and preparation of technical specifications & enquiries.
  • Engage in research investigations, consultations with manufacturers and constructors, and monitor performance results.
  • Provide support to the development and delivery of packaged equipment, mainly for water treatment-related work.
  • Perform inspections on new equipment and condition reports on recovered equipment from deployment.
  • Plan, participate in, and report on equipment/system integration trials.
  • Produce detailed specifications and scopes of work and review/report on supplier’s submissions.
  • Supervise the interface between different packages of equipment to form a well-integrated complete system.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering work.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office and AutoCAD software packages.
  • Knowledge of 3D design software packages such as Solidworks & PDMS.
  • Competent in the use of engineering calculation software packages for HVAC, water supply, distribution & drainage (e.g., Hevacomp/Bentley, Windes Micro drainage).
  • The ability to obtain relevant Security Clearance.

Desirable:

  • Ability to work independently using own initiative or within a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of 3D design software packages such as Solidworks & PDMS.
  • Previous experience in the Water Treatment industry.

The role is based full-time in Swindon.
