The role will oversee and manage the day-to-day financial operations including:

  • Monitor and be accountable for all financial activities and performance against financial strategies presenting results and recommendations to the board.
  • Responsible for driving strategies relating to improved financial planning and management, cost savings, financial legislation, budget setting etc.
  • Regular visits to Birmingham offices to oversee financial operations.
  • Produce monthly management and financial accounts and oversee financial audits, internal controls and compliance.
  • Conduct analysis to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts.
  • Oversee all accounting and tax internal controls to ensure compliance with tax and regulatory environment.
  • Provide financial information, analysis, and advice on business issues to key stakeholders
  • Maintain effective working relationships with budget-holding managers within the business
  • Prepare accurate and timely management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and work-in-progress calculations.
  • Prepare year-end accounts and reconciliations in conjunctions with the company’s accountants
  • Develop and implement robust financial risk management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards; to identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Perform root cause analysis/business analyst techniques to identify opportunities for improvement, thus improving bottleneck.
  • To be an effective and active part of the SLT, being involved in key decisions concerning the planning, implementation, review, and impact of Nimbus’s strategic plans.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in finance.
  • Experience or knowledge of data protection and GDPR compliance.


Skills and Experience required:


The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), with at least 3 years of prior experience in leading a finance function. Strong technical accounting is essential, as is experience in both strategic analysis and process improvement.


  • Excellent knowledge of all accounting, financial and business principles. (essential)
  • Degree in accounting or related field or qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CA) with significant PQE with experience managing a finance team (essential)
  • Experience in a SAAS software & data business. (essential)
  • In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping
  • Firsthand experience with budgeting and risk management.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial audits, internal controls and compliance. (essential)
  • A keen eye for detail is paramount, as is a commercial acumen that extends beyond finance (essential)
  • Proactive with an analytical mind and the ability to think strategically and solve problems (essential)
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills (essential)
  • Proficient in MS Excel and other financial software (essential)
  • Ability to work well with tight deadlines with multiple deliverables.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to interact with management at all levels, offering support and challenge. (essential)
  • Proficient communication and presentation skills and ability to turn data into insights.
  • Knowledge of subscription management software (desirable)
  • Experience of significant business growth (essential)
