Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and configure applications, components, and tools based on the technical plans set by the Development Technical Lead.
  • Follow and contribute to software development standards and best practices in your agile team, addressing complex technical issues.
  • Organize, participate in, and lead meetings and delivery events to ensure high-quality and efficient team output.
  • Ensure all work meets the high standards and priorities of Technology and Data at TfL.
  • Develop plans, forecasts, and budget estimates for projects to ensure timely and consistent delivery.
  • Create technical material for governance processes such as architecture and change review.
  • Provide development expertise to evaluate new technologies effectively.
  • Address software application defects following agreed-upon developer operations practices.


Your Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in software engineering techniques and implementing design patterns for flexible, maintainable solutions.
  • Expert in configuring off-the-shelf systems/software to minimize customization.
  • Broad understanding of planning and management tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., security, PCI DSS) and cloud platforms.
  • Experience working with 3rd party contractual requirements.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area is desirable.
  • Expert in recent versions of at least one development language (e.g., C#, Java, JavaScript, SQL, PowerShell).
  • Skilled in industry-standard development methodologies and tools.
  • Expert in industry-standard content management tools and practices.
  • Proficient in analyzing and optimizing database and application performance.


Experience You Have:

  • Extensive experience developing software systems in multi-vendor environments, delivering high-quality, specification-compliant, and budget-conscious solutions.
  • Proven track record in developing software for complex systems under time and cost pressures.
  • Adept at creating documentation for software designs that meet customer expectations and support future development activities.
  • Broad experience in the full systems development lifecycle within an Agile environment.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud implementations is desirable.
  • Experience with systems integrations is desirable.


Technical Development Responsibilities:

  • Deliver end-to-end bespoke software solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Configure third-party off-the-shelf products.
  • Design and develop new infrastructure solutions.
  • Conduct functional, integration, automation, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support.
  • Manage and assure 3rd party technology suppliers.
  • Estimate technical solution costs and delivery plans.
