Our client is looking to hire an experienced Quantitative Engineer/Platform Engineer to join an established team, reporting directly into a Senior Quant Analyst. This expansionary role is crucial for extending, enhancing, and optimizing the existing technology infrastructure to support the business's expansion and onboarding of new research and technology projects. The core focus of the role will be on taking ownership of engineering/DevOps in an exciting position that offers the scope to get involved in a broad range of projects and technologies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the entire on-prem UNIX/Linux server and systems
  • Collaborate with quant researchers & developers to optimize CI/CD pipeline infrastructure and enhance dataflows.
  • Working with and managing in-house software
  • Work with the quant research team to expand the current infrastructure in place, ensuring it is professionally managed, robust, and observable.
  • Set up/maintain and manage GitLab and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Using Airflow within Docker to monitor, test and deploy
  • Oversee and manage in-house websites servicing analytics and forecasting
  • Using ELK stack/observability tools to troubleshoot and work around analytics engines and visualization
  • Using Airflow to manage data engineering pipelines
  • Report directly to the quant team lead while collaborating closely with the quant researchers and developers. infrastructure.


Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • Experience working with and managing in-house software (important)
  • Experience with container-based technologies (e.g. Docker)
  • Proven experience in a similar role within financial services
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Experience with UNIX systems
  • Understanding of relational vs non-relational databases
  • Familiarity with Airflow (or similar tools) for managing workflows
  • Experience working with GitLab and setting up CI/CD pipelines
  • Broader financial services ecosystem experience could be beneficial
  • Experience with database administration, UNIX administration, and cloud work is highly valued
  • DevOps engineering experience is a major plus
