Materials Engineer

PE Global is recruiting a Materials Engineer for our industrial manufacturing client based in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract and the role is hybrid.
Responsibilities of the role:
- You will provide materials engineering support to all UK facilities being involved in investigating a wide range of different materials in multiple applications.
- Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
- Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
- Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Materials Science/Metallurgy degree and/or substantive practical working experience within a materials laboratory environment
- Metallurgical / materials evaluation of new products, processes and or systems
- Engaging communicator; Able to convey technical assessments and results to both technical and non-technical colleagues
- Providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance
- Ability to Identify metallurgical / materials manufacturing defects and make process improvement recommendations
Desirable:
- Experience of non-metallics testing
- Deep experience of general metallurgy
- Experience of fluids testing / chemistry knowledge
- Experience of working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory
