Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Optimise: The Java Developer will design, develop, and optimise low latency trading systems using Java, ensuring the systems can handle large volumes of transactions with minimal delay.
  • Performance Tuning: Analyse and enhance the performance of critical components within the trading platform, fine-tuning Java applications to achieve sub-millisecond latency.
  • Collaboration: The successful candidate will work closely with quant developers, traders, and infrastructure teams to implement solutions that meet the needs of high-frequency trading clients.
  • Problem Solving: Tackle complex technical challenges, including multi-threading, garbage collection tuning, and network optimisation.
  • Testing and Deployment: The role involves implementing rigorous testing strategies to ensure stability and reliability, and deploying solutions that minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.


Qualifications:


Experience: The candidate should have 5+ years of professional experience in Java development, particularly in low-latency environments such as trading systems, real-time systems, or high-performance computing.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Java, with deep knowledge of concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with network programming (TCP/IP, UDP) and familiarity with protocols used in trading.
  • Knowledge of garbage collection tuning and JVM performance optimisation.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based environments and shell scripting.

Desirable:

  • Experience with other programming languages such as C++ or Python.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, trading algorithms, or electronic trading systems.
  • Experience with messaging systems like Kafka, ZeroMQ, or similar.
