We are currently hiring a Sales Director to drive our renewable growth - excellent Salary + OTE + Car

Location: Chorley & Warrington

The role:

  • Executive ownership and management of the Sales, business development and marketing functions within Centreco.
  • Responsible for the sales performance of the company across the business development phase (lead generation and energy consultancy) to project development and to contracted business. Accountable for the generation of contracted revenue to meet the demands of a business focused on growth and leadership in the (B2B) UK Commercial Solar Energy Systems Market.
  • A requirement to consolidate and grow the company’s leading position in the owner operator sector, developing at pace a leading position in the commercial landlord sector and formulating a winning tender / public sector positioning.
  • Deliver contracted business to the Company in line with forecast targets.
  • Lead the delivery of all business development, data, marketing, energy consulting, project development and contracting operations of the business (together being the sales operation)
  • Develop a sales operation structure and functionality fit to achieve the sales targets of the business.
  • Manage and direct the sales operation to achieve sales KPIs and contract run rates.
  • Be responsible for key project development / client opportunities (key clients and multi-site opportunities)
  • Input to the development of the company’s proposition, its sales and marketing strategy and route to market
  • Own the company’s sales strategy and ensure its efficient implementation – drive continued leadership in owner operator market, deliver winning commercial landlord proposition and build a tender / public sector positioning
  • Develop and enact the company’s marketing strategy and communications activities
  • Work internally to ensure that the sales operation performance and activities are consistent with the capacity and goals of the company.
  • Work with Certas Energy and wider Group Companies (including other UK entities and DCC Energy Europe) as necessary to develop the company’s positioning and its delivery to maximise return – maximise cross sell opportunities and wider proposition development.
  • Act as sales and marketing lead for Centreco across wider DCC UK and European energy strategies, opportunities and business (contract) potential.
  • Ensure that communication with clients or potential clients is professional and courteous, consistent with first class customer service.
  • Ensure that the handover of client from contract to the operational function of the business is efficient and be available as necessary to deliver an ongoing communication route for that client.
  • Ensure the necessary skills are in place through the sales operation to ensure effective and safe operation.
  • Be responsible for the development of sales forecasts and related financial projections.
  • Ensure excellent levels of compliance in all areas, supporting and promoting the Group (DCC PLC) “Doing the Right Thing” agenda.
  • Achieve the sales KPIs, forecasts and contract targets.
  • Input into price positioning (by sector) and control contracted margins accordingly within company targets.
  • Develop and manage sales budgets / forecasts in conjunction with the company leadership team.
  • Ensure resourcing and structuring of the sales function in line with financial targets.
  • Act as the leader and figure head of the Sales/Marketing function by utilising strong people management skills, excellent communication and organisational ability.
  • Be the company expert in solar PV sales processes, techniques and methods and promote this knowledge through the organisation.
  • Employ, train and coach the company’s solar pv sales staff to be individually and collectively best in class.
  • Motivate and develop the sales team, ensuring all team members have the required skills to do their jobs effectively whilst identifying & developing key individuals for future progression (succession planning)
  • Complete annual appraisals with each direct report and including a half yearly review
  • Ensure effective communication with direct reports by holding monthly meetings / 1:1s
  • Through inspirational leadership and coaching, foster and promote a culture of high performance with a particular focus on developing future talent that will complement existing resources and retain and develop the existing committed workforce whilst developing a structure and platform for future growth
  • Develop and engage in a recruitment, training and developmental process to grow future Sales capacity
  • Develop team structures, that support high performance working, within effectiveness of job design, allow growth and career development of teams and deliver efficiency in costs
  • Ensure that sales pay structures, bonus structures and terms & conditions of employment support high performance, improve overall profit & productivity, support maximum workforce flexibility, bring innovation, and current best practice at appropriate cost.
  • Ensure effective communication with the team by holding regular team meetings and reviews.
  • Foster a strong relationship with all internal teams, notably with the Operational function.
  • Develop the Centreco / Certas Energy Culture positively consistent with the DCC Energy strategy.
  • Senior business development and sales management experience in the B2B sector
  • Experience in selling high value capital projects – ideally into commercial sectors.
  • Excellent sales and marketing acumen, experienced in managing business development, marketing and sales functions.
  • Strong leadership, gravitas, and people management experience
  • Used to working and selling at senior / Board level.
  • Strong commercial & financial acumen
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent communicator and comfortable operating at senior level internally and externally across a diverse B2B client base
  • A natural leader with a charismatic, practical, can-do approach.
