POSITION PURPOSE:

The Program Manager is required for the successful management and delivery off a key pillar in a large scale, strategic transformation program to remodel and enhance our Fixed Income capabilities to maintain current capabilities and support new business growth objectives. Working alongside seasoned investors, change professionals and senior leaders and representatives from across the enterprise, the individual will be part of a focused Fixed Income transformation team.

The role requires a detailed understanding of fixed income in an asset management firm, and proven experience off structuring, initiating, managing and delivering large complex change programs working in partnership with Technology and business departments from the front to the back office along with other support functions.

The successful candidate will also need excellent presentation skills to communicate effectively and succinctly to senior stakeholders, be detail oriented, facilitate workshops and senior level meetings including steering committees and working collaboratively with a broad range of key business staff.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Direct a large-scale, complex program with multiple internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with business sponsors and technology to ensure the successfully delivery of the program to the required and agreed timescales, budget and quality as defined by success metrics and criteria.
  • Develop and agree the strategy and approach for the overall program delivery.
  • Responsible for all program deliveries ensuring quality, that conforms to the required high standards, are reviewed and signed-off by all required stakeholders with no exceptions.
  • It is essential that the program manager understands the details of the solution, changes and impact to business and technology systems and any issues, and succinctly represents these and provides updates to stakeholders and senior sponsors alike.
  • Implement the appropriate governance for the entire program and ensure that this is adhered to without any exceptions.
  • Facilitate and drive discussions to ensure the detail is understood and captured, issues are resolved and accountability is enforced for decisions and actions as required.
  • Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of the program.
  • Assess and mitigate all high priority program risks as they are encountered. Ensure prompt corrective action is untaken to resolve any issues.
  • Escalates risks and issues, as appropriate, to the program stakeholders promptly.
  • Develop the program charter, integrated program plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related program management artifacts.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between program size and complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value.
  • Validate financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related program expenditures.
  • Manage the program according to established methodology and standards.
  • Continually update relevant business stakeholders of program status and publish status reports on the required frequency.
  • Represent the program in various project and program governance and inter-department forums.
  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall and integrated delivery plan.
  • Lead collaborative partnerships and dialog with related business units beyond Fixed Income
  • Build excellent working relationships with teams as required.
  • Produce clear, concise and accurate presentation materials for use in various forums, with detail appropriate to the audience.
  • Continually update the Program Director and business stakeholders of progress, and raise issues as soon as encountered.

  • Utilizes a variety of information and data sources pertaining to organizational and professional trends. Checks the source for omission and accuracy. Identifies the sources that are appropriate for specific types of information. Checks for bias and omission. Seeks out the appropriate people to approach for guidance either formally or informally depending on the type of issue. Links information in a lateral as well as linear manner. Finds hidden data. Relates and manipulates data from various sources to create a fuller picture. Investigates and uncovers root causes of a problem or issue.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • 10+ years Asset Management experience successfully delivering programs in the front office.
  • 4+ years proven Asset Management project or program delivery experience in Fixed Income including delivery of cross functional change projects.
  • Good working knowledge of fixed income instruments and processes including portfolio management.
  • Proven experience of working directly with investors in the asset management industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and being able to work with people across multiple locations.
  • Experience of facilitating meetings with stakeholders to make decisions, review and present findings and solve key issues.
  • Ability to translate and simplify complex business and technical concepts.
  • Preparing and running detailed workshops.
  • Ability to work with people across multiple time zones and can flex to different working patterns and time zones if required.
  • Ability to work well with people with varying technical, business and cultural backgrounds.
  • An intellectual curiosity that will drive a detailed and thorough examination of all issues and ensure analysis is conducted to a very thorough and high standard.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized and self-motivated
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Very good experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Comfortable working with senior executive management.
  • Effective at delivering high quality output under time constraints.

Preferred:

  • 15+ years of proven and successful Project and Program delivery experience in Asset Management firms.
  • 6+ years of proven and successful project and program delivery experience in Fixed Income and cross functional programs.
  • documentation in a major front office strategic program.
  • Experience of working on ETF projects and programs.
  • Experience managing senior sponsors - 10 year minimum.
  • Advanced and very experienced user of Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and SharePoint.
  • Excellent presentation skills particularly to senior management.
  • Preparing and running effective steering committees.
  • Soft skills to motivate people and navigate a complex global working environment.
  • Likely to have a university degree.
  • Likely to have a project management qualification (PMP, Prince II etc.)
