Position Summary:
The Used Equipment Sales Manager is responsible for sourcing, appraising, marketing, and selling pre-owned heavy machinery. The role focuses on building relationships with sellers and buyers, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving revenue through successful sales negotiations. This individual must possess a deep understanding of heavy equipment machinery, market trends, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing Equipment:
Establish and maintain relationships with companies, contractors, and individuals looking to sell pre-owned heavy machinery.
Assess the condition of equipment, reviewing maintenance records and market demands to determine resale potential.
Valuation and Pricing:
Conduct thorough appraisals, factoring in usage, age, and condition.
Set competitive pricing strategies that balance profitability with market expectations.
Marketing and Promotion:
Create compelling listings for used equipment, including descriptions, photos, and key selling points.
Promote machinery through digital channels, trade shows, auctions, and direct outreach to potential buyers.
Sales Negotiation:
Engage in negotiations with potential buyers to secure mutually beneficial deals.
Draft sales contracts and ensure legal compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Customer Relationship Management:
Build long-term relationships with buyers and sellers, offering post-sale support to ensure satisfaction.
Provide service agreements, warranties, and maintenance advice as necessary.
Market Analysis & Reporting:
Monitor and analyse trends in the construction equipment market to anticipate demand and adjust strategies accordingly.
Prepare detailed sales performance reports for management review.
Logistics & Delivery:
Coordinate the transport and delivery of sold machinery, ensuring that logistics are efficient and meet buyer expectations.
Requirements:
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in heavy machinery sales or used equipment management.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of heavy machinery (e.g., bulldozers, excavators, cranes) and their market values.
Proficiency with digital sales platforms and CRM systems.
Skills:
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Analytical mindset, capable of adjusting pricing and strategies based on market fluctuations.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle logistics and multiple sales simultaneously.
Other:
Willingness to travel to evaluate equipment, meet clients, and attend trade shows
