We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Health and Safety Advisor for a growing client we are currently working with. You’ll play a key role in promoting a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment working as the number 2. You will be involved in concept to implementation of policies and procedures to help shape proactive safety culture.


The Role

Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you will be responsible for advising and supporting key stakeholders. You will be able to offer support in all aspects of health and safety compliance ensuring that all operations across adhere to UK legislation and industry best practices whilst promoting a culture of health and safety awareness.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and non-statutory safety responsibilities including the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and other relevant legislations as well as the Management of Health and Safety at Work and other relevant regulations
  • Contribute to developing strategies, policies and procedures to minimise workplace hazards
  • Health & Safety Audit management
  • Investigate and respond to near miss, incident & accident reports (with the aim to reduce the number of incidents and accidents in the organisation)
  • Safety Management system administration and development (writing and reviewing risk assessments, training and safety policies)
  • Conduct serious/incident/accident investigations to establish root cause, and reporting RIDDORs as appropriate
  • Educating and training staff in managing workplace risks (shop, area and engineer teams)
  • Provide guidance and advice to management and colleagues on health and safety matters.


Skills

  • Proven experience as Health & Safety Advisor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in applying health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Motivated, driven and passionate about improving Health and Safety culture.
  • Good communicator with a positive pragmatic problem-solving approach.
  • Accountable, self-motivated with ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Experience in conducting training, coaching, and mentoring to develop health and safety knowledge and expertise.
  • Qualifications in health and safety are essential.
  • NEBOSH general certificate essential
  • IOSH membership desirable
