About RNLI

Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea.

For 200 years, our crews have been risking their lives to save those who are in danger of drowning. We are known as a lifeboat and lifeguard service, famous for heroic acts of courage, but we’re more than a rescue organisation. We influence, supervise and educate people too. Increasingly, we are helping people to stay safe on the water. To do this, our teams (#Onecrew) need a dedicated, professional, and talented team behind them, and that’s where you come in. This is your chance to join that team and help save lives every day.

We are looking for an inspiring and experienced Transformation Programme Delivery Owner to shape and lead the effective design, delivery, and implementation of our Mainstay digital transformation (ERP) programme.

About the Role

The Programme Delivery Owner is a pivotal role that leads the RNLI’s programme delivery for transforming the way the RNLI operates through a combination of business change and digital enhancement including an ERP implementation.

This role will be working across areas of the organisation from finance and people including volunteer support to buildings and asset management, supply chain and retail. You will be delivering the transformation to improve our volunteer experiences, drive automation and improve information flow across the organisation. Making sure that the right insight is in the right person’s hands as they need it, driving efficiency and new approaches to enhance the capability of the RNLI and help save even more lives.

You will be leading the delivery of our Mainstay Transformation Programme, taking ownership of the programme’s business case from tranche 2 through to full realisation; directing the programme according to the agreed success criteria; covering budget, scope, quality and timescales, while ensuring it remains aligned with the wider RNLI strategy, plans, business, and enterprise architecture. You will also be responsible for leading the organisation through the resulting strategic change covering all aspects of business, process, people, data and technology change associated with the programme.

Key priorities for this role in 2025 :

  • Complete the implementation of the finance and payroll including the change journey and other projects in tranche 1
  • Post approval. implement the second series of projects based on organisation priorities and technology risk
  • Lead the governance of the programme
  • Ensure the directors deliver the change in their areas of accountability as part of the programme

Your ability to lead the delivery of enterprise-scale IT and digitally enabled business change programmes is essential. Further you will bring a breadth of digital, data and IT systems delivery experience which will be key to maximising successful outcomes for the RNLI.

About you

We are looking for someone with significant Programme leadership skills and experience in driving cross organisation improvement and delivering results against clear and measurable targets and standards.

Our successful candidate will also have:

  • Experience of leading, managing, developing and/or motivating multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating across a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience of implementing ERP programmes
  • Experience of digital and organisational transformation programmes ·
  • Experience of change leadership and delivering programmes / projects across a diverse range of stakeholders ·
  • Experience influencing and negotiating at the highest level

Finally, it goes without saying that you will share our passion for saving lives.

This complex and demanding role requires an experienced leader who is used to being targeted and delivering exceptional results. In return, you will be part of an extraordinary team and have the satisfaction of playing a significant role in driving forward the business of the RNLI: saving lives at sea.
