The Hitchin Site Controller will have day to day responsibility for all financial accounting and compliance aspects for the site, including monthly financial reporting and analysis, ensuring adherence to internal controls (SOX) and meeting strict reporting deadlines. This role will serve as a key member of the Site Management Team and reports to the Group Financial Controller.


Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, the local management team and the site finance departments, the Hitchin Site Controller will work with the teams as a trusted business partner, actively liaising with the Finance team at the site to ensure that a robust internal control framework is maintained, SOX process narratives are maintained accurately and adhered to and opportunities are maximised to improve the financial performance of Building Services and Utilities.


Responsibilities include:


  • Responsible for maintenance and oversight of the accounting records for the site.
  • Responsibility for the administration and payment of sales rebates at the Hitchin site.
  • Responsibility for coordinating and driving SOX reviews and activities across the site are carried out by the appropriate timelines. Regular review and consolidation of the SOX process narratives across the site.
  • Coaching and development of one team member.
  • Management of the Internal Audit and External Audit processes including co-ordination of the Audit at the site and year end timetable and agreement of audit deliverables. Agreeing actions to be taken to remediate any identified issues in a timely manner.
  • Lead the annual stock take audit at the site and work with the site leader to identify and gain further areas for cycle count exemptions.
  • Completion of the annual statutory accounts to timetable and liaison with the Company’s Accountants and Auditors.
  • Completion of the annual and quarterly tax information for Corporation tax payments and returns, responding to questions from the Company's tax advisors as required.


The successful candidate will be newly qualified with either CIMA or ACCA accreditation. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform well under pressure while working to reporting deadlines is essential together with a proven track record of business partnering multiple stakeholders.
