Marcegaglia Stainless Sheffield has three sites across Sheffield, and they include our own Melting Shop called SMACC (Stainless Melting and Continuous Casting), that produces semi-finished products such as slabs, billets, blooms and ingots; ASR (Alloy Steel Rods), our rolling mill that produces wire rod, bar and rebar and SSB (Sheffield Stainless Bar), our bar finishing unit.


As part of our ongoing growth and multi-million pound investment, we are recruiting for experienced Electrical Projects Engineers to join the Engineering Projects team.


As Electrical Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in within the organisation and your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring project success, meeting deadlines and maintaining the highest standards of quality. You will be managing multiple projects, and you will be collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that contribute towards business success.


Responsibilities

  • The design, development, and delivery of electrical based projects, providing technically sound engineering solutions
  • Planning and co-ordinating electrical engineering operations during plant shutdowns inclusive of major maintenance activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all new equipment, use in-depth knowledge to solve difficult engineering failures and improve plant reliability.
  • Negotiating and managing key electrical contracts.
  • Liaising with external suppliers and contractors to provide solutions to production and engineering challenges.
  • Accountable for budgeting, forecasting, and receiving competitive quotes for all work to be undertaken.
  • Development of plant to improve performance and reliability.
  • Providing the necessary documentation to cover all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental Control inclusive of Permit Systems, Safe Working Procedures, Isolation/Immobilisation and Environmental Management Systems etc.
  • Understanding and interpreting drawing and specifications to resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and problems as they arise.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project requirements and objectives.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions with stakeholders to provide updated on project status.


Skills

  • Driven to work in a demanding and challenging environment.
  • Educated to an HNC level or have proven electrical experience in a large steelmaking environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate an awareness of a melting shop environment.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of practical Electrical hands-on skills.
  • Able to lead, coach and develop other employees.
  • Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of continuous improvement programmes, particularly planned maintenance activities.
  • A good communicator, both verbal & written.
  • Able to demonstrate good planning skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of the health and safety and environmental policies and plans.
