Ambue makes use of our own custom software platform and digital tools, to streamline and automate the delivery of retrofit projects in the UK Social Housing sector, and we are currently working on the retrofit of thousands of Social Homes across the UK.

Ambue is a hybrid business, offering PAS 2035 compliance retrofit professional services, and leveraging this experience to rapidly iterate the development of our software tools to improve these processes, including using Machine Learning and Knowledge Graphs in exciting R&D projects funded by Innovate UK.

Our Professional Services Offer

We are currently offering Architecture, Retrofit Designer, Retrofit Coordinator, Retrofit Assessor and Domestic Energy Assessor services to our clients, and are developing our services to offer the new Building Regulations Principal Designer (BR PD) service.

We have the Experience, Skills and Competencies to offer these services for street properties and low-rise multi-occupancy buildings, and we are automating our processes and workflows to streamline the delivery of this service, alongside our Retrofit Design and PAS 2035 Consultancy services.

However we are repeatedly being asked to offer these services for HRB’s and we recognise that despite having extensive retrofit and heritage experience, we do not currently have the experience to offer these services for HRB’s at present.

This is where you come in

The opportunity is to help us develop and lead the delivery of this aspect of our business. You will lead a team of Architects, Architectural Assistants and other consultants, in the delivery of these services, for the retrofit of Higher Risk (High Rise) Social Housing properties across the UK.

We are looking for an ambitious ARB registered Architect, who is motivated to tackle the challenges of net zero, fuel poverty and deliver healthy social homes in the UK. We are keen to speak to architects who are curious, keen to learn, to adapt to new technologies and ways of working, and who want to do things differently to make a difference.

We want to hire a colleague who will help us develop our Professional Service’s offer for the combined BR PD duties, Lead Consultancy and Architectural Design for Social Housing, with a focus on the retrofit of HRB’s.

This senior architect role will include managing the HRB process, working with our software team to develop the tools and processes to help automate and manage the BR PD duties efficiently.

You will be actively involved in the development of these aspects of the Ambue Software Platform, as we develop the documentation and workflows to design, plan, manage and monitor the delivery of the retrofit of these properties, leading to the compilation of the Golden Thread and BIM data.

You will be responsible for leading the Design Team and Clients on these HRB projects and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Ambue is a remote-first business, with UK-based professionals living and working remotely across the country, and with an international team of software developers across the UK, Europe and the Far East. The majority of our current projects are in London, the Midlands, Southeast and Southwest of England, and we are able to support client projects across the UK.

You will possess demonstratable evidence of:

  • ARB Registered with over 6 years’ experience, including refurbishment and work on existing HRB’s.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in the design and delivery of HRB’s.
  • Proficiency in technical design, detailing, quality control and management of each stage of the RIBA plan of work.
  • An understanding of the Golden Thread and the technical requirements to deliver suitable outcomes.
  • Confidence when working with, guiding and advising Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers and Clients, and able to analyse, conclude and communicate critical aspects of projects to recorded safe outcomes.
  • A well-rounded approach to project delivery.
  • The ability to Plan, Manage and Monitor the design, and the work of others.
  • A sound understanding of the Building Regulations and their implementation.
  • Experience in leading projects for commercial clients, ideally in the social landlord or multi-occupancy residential sector.
  • Strong team leadership skills.
  • Comprehensive ability to produce and lead others to produce all aspects of the required design outputs and correspondence.
  • Contract management experience and excellent record keeping.
  • Some awareness of Retrofit PAS2035, PAS2030 and TrustMark.
  • UK valid full driving licence.
  • Evidence of specific training for, or significant experience in the role of Building Regulations Principal Designer for HRB’s.
  • Proficiency in project programming using leading project management software.
  • MS Office and BIM Software proficiency (Ambue use ArchiCAD, and will support you in a transition from Revit for example). Graphics software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign advantageous). Ambue use custom high-tech software solutions – induction will be given.
