We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for an Analytics Platform Developer to contribute to the successful operation of the largely customer facing, high profile Achilles Analytics data platform and end user application. This will involve all aspects of support, management, troubleshooting and ongoing development in a large and complex but well-structured multi-layer data environment supporting a rich, functional and highly interactive end user application


This role is home-based, with occasional requirement to come into our office in Didcot, Oxfordshire.


You will have proven experience (at least 5 years) of working with SQL in an RDMBS structure, ideally in a multi-layered data warehousing and interactive end user reporting environment. You will have had responsibility for designing and implementing multi-layered table structures with a good understanding of SQL query performance at various levels/layers, with the ability to optimise designs for both high volume batch processes and highly performant end user reporting queries. Experience of application data control, user access control, security across a multi-tenant data environment, MS Excel and VBA in supporting data analysis and data management activities are must-haves.


We are looking for applicants who can really get to grips with the technical requirements and who can apply and convert this understanding to derive data visualizations that provide clarity and insights. With a positive “can-do” attitude, you will work within a small team operating in a highly agile and flexible way with a focus on pragmatic delivery. You will have good data analysis skills and the ability to troubleshoot data issues.


Core Responsibilities of this role include:


Analytics platform support and management

Assist in the day-to-day operation of the data platform and in particular the successful completion of all batch processes

Create, populate and maintain a practical level of documentation covering the data flows into and through the Analytics data platform, and the core interactions with the end user application

First line support and investigation of any data issues identified in the regular batch processes, and any issues reported by internal or external end users

Day to day management of the Analytics user base in our pan Intelligence based end user application – both external customers and internal colleagues across our global offices


Analytics platform development

Assist in the evaluation of specific Business requests for changes relating specifically to the Analytics application

Impact assessment of change and release activity associated with the Achilles operational systems which are the main sources of data to the Analytics platform

Support in the development of new or changed data processes and tables aligned to the delivery of new functionality

Assist in the development of new functionality in the end user reporting application, and in particular testing of new functionality and the data being delivered

Effective communication of new functionality and reporting to colleagues particularly in the product management and sales functions both through demonstration and effective documentation

Will act as a “super user” for the analytics platform, able to effectively help colleagues to fully understand the existing and emerging functionality in the platform so that they can help customers to gain maximum benefit


Key Relationship Development

Will need to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation including highly technical infrastructure teams, QA functions, IT architects, Product Managers, Sales and Account Managers and C-level management – adjusting communication style as appropriate. Many of these relationships will be remote

Will be required to represent and on occasion deputise for the Head of Analytics platform and be comfortable and confident interacting at all levels as above
