We are seeking a Cinema Technician to work as a member of the projection and events shift team undertaking all operational tasks across all theatres and other Technical areas at BFI Southbank and, where required, external venues.

Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a team, to prepare and show a large & diverse programme of film, digital and audiovisual content across all spaces within the venue.
  • To operate theatre lighting and sound equipment on a wide variety of live events within the venue.
  • To provide operational reports as required by management including maintenance, screening and condition reports.
  • Be an ambassador for the BFI and maintain a professional approach at all times

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Experience in all matters of film projection systems, film make up processes, theatre lighting systems, theatre P.A., audio mixing and sound desks.
  • Good working knowledge, and experience in the operation of digital cinema equipment, digital library systems and video projection systems.
  • Good working knowledge of all aspects of video screening media, including all video and audio codecs, video, disc and tape formats, framerates, subtitling and aspect ratios.
  • A proven track record of promoting and supporting diversity and inclusion.
  • Good team player with an understanding of the complexities and challenges of large-scale organisations.

First interviews will be held on Tuesday 22 October & Wednesday 23 October 2024.

Second interviews will be held on Monday 28 October 2024 (including a practical test).
