The Role


Monahans is launching a brand new Risk and Assurance (Internal Audit) service line, and we are seeking a visionary Partner to lead the development and growth of this new offering. This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished professional to shape the future of our internal audit services and play a pivotal role in the firm’s expansion into this exciting area.


As a Partner, you will be responsible for building and leading the Risk and Assurance team from the ground up, developing a service that meets the needs of our diverse client base. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with a passion for innovation and a strategic mindset who is ready to make a significant impact.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the growth of the Risk and Assurance service line by developing a comprehensive internal audit offering tailored to our clients’ needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, becoming a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across sectors including not-for-profit, commercial businesses, and public sector organisations.
  • Design and implement internal audit methodologies and frameworks that align with industry best practices, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.
  • Lead on business development initiatives, including identifying new opportunities, winning tenders, and positioning Monahans as a leader in Risk and Assurance.
  • Present internal audit findings and recommendations to client boards and Audit Committees, providing clear guidance on governance, risk management, and compliance.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a team of internal audit professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry developments, ensuring clients are well-informed and compliant with evolving requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with other Partners across Monahans to create synergies between service lines and maximise cross-selling opportunities.


Skills and experience:


  • Extensive experience in internal audit and risk management, with a significant part in a senior leadership/partner role.
  • Experience in setting up or leading a new service line or department, with a focus on strategic growth and business development.
  • Professional qualifications such as CMIIA/QIAL (or equivalent), with in-depth knowledge of internal audit frameworks and governance standards.
  • Strong commercial acumen and business development capabilities, with a proven track record of growing client portfolios and securing new business.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communicator, with the ability to influence and engage with clients at board level.
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, capable of driving innovation and continuous improvement within a new service area.
