Your Impact and Responsibilities

As the Senior Risk Manager, you will:

  • Lead and Refine Frameworks: Implement and enhance the Enterprise Risk Management Framework across the Pepco Group, ensuring integration with our strategic objectives.
  • Annual Reviews: Annually review and enhance the risk management framework, securing approval from the Audit Committee.
  • Champion Risk Management: Promote the risk management agenda through bespoke training and workshops for senior management.
  • Develop Indicators: Create sophisticated, data-driven key risk indicators to advance our framework.
  • Evaluate Mitigation Strategies: Assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies, providing strategic insights to executive management.
  • Spearhead Risk Assessment: Lead risk assessments for major business changes, ensuring alignment with our risk appetite and strategic goals.
  • Independent Reviews: Conduct in-depth reviews to uncover root causes, evaluate control environments, and oversee the implementation of remedial actions.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with Compliance, Legal, Internal Control, Finance, and Internal Audit teams to develop strategies that support our strategic aims.
  • Monitor Risks: Enhance organisational responsiveness to risks through strategic engagement with business groups.
  • Oversee New Products: Review risk and control assessments for new products, setting industry-leading standards.


Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Educational Background: Degree in Risk Management, Finance, or related field; advanced risk management qualifications (e.g., MIRM or CRISC) are highly desirable.
  • Corporate Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of corporate risk management frameworks, including the UK Corporate Governance Code, King III (SA), and ISO 31000.
  • Governance Principles: Deep understanding of exemplary corporate governance principles and practices.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written, analytical, and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to prepare and present reports to C-level executives and Board members.
  • Organisational Skills: Highly developed organisational and analytical skills, capable of managing complex projects and deadlines.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in risk management within complex organisations, preferably having led risk functions. Experience in the retail industry is preferred.
  • Data Expertise: Proven ability to manage, analyse, and interpret significant data volumes and develop innovative, data-driven solutions.
