My client is an established distributor of machine tools. They are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to be home based around the midlands area and look after their established customer base.


The Role

Seeking a highly motivated and technically adept Sales Engineer to join their growing team. You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and exceeding sales targets for our portfolio of products.

This role requires a strong understanding of industrial machine tools and the challenges faced by machine builders, system integrators as well as machine shop end users. You will leverage your technical expertise to identify customer needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and ensure successful product implementation.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a deep understanding of their component portfolio, including features, benefits, and applications.

Prospect and qualify new leads within the assigned territory, identifying potential customers in both within the industrial machine tool sector and in other related applications.

Conduct needs assessments to understand customer challenges and recommend solutions that optimise safety and machine performance.

Prepare and deliver technical presentations, effectively communicating the value proposition of our products to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Provide technical support to customers throughout the sales cycle, including pre-sales consultations, product demonstrations, and post-sale implementation.

Negotiate contracts and/or pricing to secure profitable sales agreements.

Develop strong relationships with key decision-makers within customer organisations.

Track sales opportunities, manage proposals, and generate accurate sales reports.

Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional products and services.

Travel throughout the assigned territory to meet with customers and attend industry events.


The Candidate

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in B2B sales, ideally within the industrial machinery or manufacturing sector.

Proven track record of exceeding sales targets in a technical sales environment.

In-depth understanding of industrial machine tools, their safety protocols, and common operational challenges.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with customers at all levels.

Ability to translate technical information into clear and concise language for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel.


The Package

Offering circa £40k basic. Candidates with strong machine tool sales experience can earn up to £50k basic. Other package details include bonus, and company vehicle.
