Job Summary

We are recruiting for a NatGas Nomination and Position Management Specialist to join a new team that will manage nominations, positions and support our multi-asset class physical commodity middle office.

Primary duties include handling gas positions with the trading desk, managing the nomination process at virtual trading points or directly with the relevant TSO, and resolving issues to achieve balance. Additionally, the role involves managing LNG cargoes with delivery in Europe and Asia.

As the gas desk expands, the Specialist will be required to assist in the drafting of processes and procedures, managing the nominations processes, storage operators, or interconnector points, working with stakeholders to ensure balance, ensuring transactions comply with credit terms and registry T&Cs and management of a portfolio of commodity collaterals.

This specialist role focuses on natgas nominations and position management as the primary function, with additional support provided to the broader team across a multi-asset class physical commodity middle office.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Processes:

  • Manage gas positions with the Gas trading desk, handle the nomination process at virtual trading points via a service provider or direct to the TSO, and resolve issues to achieve balance within the delivery period.
  • Handle LNG cargoes bought and sold on the water, eventually delivered in Europe and Asia.
  • Manage changes to the nominations process as capacity and storage expand, including storage operators or interconnector points for cross-border flows.
  • Monitor and control transactions to ensure compliance with approved credit terms and applicable registries T&Cs.
  • Manage commodity collateral in the CTMU managed portfolio.

Credit Monitoring:

  • Manage a portfolio of commodity finance facilities, monitoring credit facilities and physical collateral.
  • Maintain and build relationships with the Bank’s customers and intermediaries.
  • Approve and monitor transactions to ensure they remain within approved parameters.
  • React to facility excesses and collateral shortfalls to manage credit risks.
  • Notify risk management of deviations and deterioration in the Bank’s credit risk position.
  • Liaise with financial and trading contacts of clients and intermediaries, providing timely release instructions and information updates.

Strategy:

  • Support the implementation of the target operating model for CTMU in the region.
  • Identify process efficiencies and streamline requirements to provide better client service and risk management.
  • Increase the profile of the CTMU function with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Business:
  • Maintain active dialogue with RCO/SCO and trading desks, understanding business requirements and the markets in general.
  • Contribute to team and division productivity goals.
Qualifications
  • Preferably degree qualified or with relevant commodity and/or collateral management experience.
  • Skills in managing conduct, risk, people, products, processes, bank lending, business partnering, and process management.
