The role would be to assist with additional resource needed for a 6 month contract with our Telco Partner based in Reading|UK.
What you need to come with:
- UK\ EU or Dual Qualified Lawyer – Non Negotiable
- Minimum of 8 years PQE +
- Strong competition law background and experience with Anti-Trust
- Experience having dealt with CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) and OFCOM (The Office of Communications)
- Regulatory experience is an added advantage
- Must have UK working experience
You'll be part of the Marketing, Consumer and Regulatory Affairs team within the Legal, Government and Regulatory Affairs function (LGRA). LGRA provides the legal and operational backbone of our business.
They help manage the brand, protect reputation, advise on compliance, and advocate Company’s interests and deliver their message to customers, regulators, government, and the media.
You will report directly into the Head of Legal, Consumer and Network Regulation and Competition. The Regulatory team manages interactions with Ofcom, the Competition and Markets Authority, and other regulators in respect of regulatory matters and merger control. The overall objective of the Regulatory team is to give consumers the freedom to enjoy mobile services. They also look to challenge industry practices and regulations that limit competition and are responsible for securing competition clearance of mergers and acquisitions and formulating responses to wider regulatory initiatives.
Main Description Text
At a high level, the role involves taking end-to-end responsibility for competition matters affecting the mobile and broadband industry and providing high-quality and pragmatic legal advice on the application of legislation and regulation to business. As Senior Counsel you will have responsibility for the following areas:
- Advising the business on all substantive and procedural aspects of competition law and how it affects the company across a range of behavioural and transactional matters, as well as communicating complex legal concepts to senior stakeholders in an easy-to-digest manner that aids decision-making.
- Supporting competition law and merger control investigations before competition authorities.
- Assisting in the preparation of responses to requests for information from competition authorities.
- Representing Company’s policy position to, and raising queries with, Government, regulatory bodies, and industry forums on regulatory matters to achieve Company’s commercial objectives.
- Preparing and delivering training to the business and the wider legal team on competition law matters.
- Managing external advisors.
- Working with many parts of business including colleagues in our Commercial, Economic Regulatory, Corporate Communications, Technology and Risk & Compliance teams, as well as other parts of the Group and the wider group on competition matters.
