Hammersmith and FulhamLondon, West London, United Kingdom Hestia Housing Support Full time

We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we live by our values and are committed to a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation that provides a variety of services such as Domestic Abuse, Modern Slavery, Mental Health & Complex Needs and Criminal Justice. We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain independence.

The service you will work in….

Talgarth Road is a Care Quality Commission registered care home for men and women aged 18-65. The service supports those with enduring mental health needs who require support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The home has a capacity of 10 service users. Each service user has a private bedroom with access to communal areas and shared facilities. You will be managing an experienced and established team, supporting our service users in line with our Hestia values.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Pool Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health & Complex Needs Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • Provide day to day care and support of the service users in line with the actions identified in the care/support plans.
  • Assist service users to attend educational, leisure and health related activities, accompanying them as appropriate.
  • Support the planning, reviewing, and implementation of support / care plans with the participation of service users.
  • Assist with the administration of medication, supporting service users to transition towards managing their own medication where appropriate.
  • Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are reported, followed up promptly in line with Hestia procedures.
  • Carry out domestic tasks (including cooking and cleaning of the home) when appropriate.
  • Liaise effectively with other agencies involved in the care/support of service users.
  • Aid the team to ensure that housing management functions are carried out to a high standard and that the project complies with Hestia operational policies and SBHA management agreement.
  • Assist with ensuring that building risk assessments and health and safety audits are carried out.
  • Redefine the relationship between service users and staff as one of mutuality and reciprocity rather than of dependency.
  • Support participants to extend their social networks and friendships through a range of internal and external opportunities.
  • Work in a way that focuses not just on service users' problems, but on their abilities.
  • Ensure that the organisation's strategies are met, and policies, procedures and values are adhered to in all matters of service delivery.

Why Hestia?

Joining Hestia means more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger. We offer a supportive, inclusive and resolution driven work environment where your contributions are recognised and valued. As a member of our team, you will have the chance to grow both personally and professionally while making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Good Knowledge of issues related to signs, symptoms, and treatments of mental illness.
  • Ability to assess service users' declining mental health and take appropriate action.
  • Basic awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Willingness to cook and clean with the service users and to assist with personal care.
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours within a Rota system including weekends, evenings and sleep-ins.
  • Willingness to maximise independence by motivating and supporting service users towards their goals.
  • Willingness to travel and work across Hestia services when required.
  • Promotes a service user-oriented organisation by ensuring that all activity is aligned to identify service user needs.
  • Good Literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic functions in MS Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to use an I.T. based Support Planning, Risk Assessment and Key working system.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
